TV, over the years, has blessed us with some top-quality entertainment, and for those with a shorter attention span, it has provided some top-quality TV series.

Sometimes, movies can be too long to watch and it takes a while to get into them, whereas TV series, after a forty-minute to an hour episode leave you wanting more with the suspenseful cliffhanger at the end of each episode.

Luckily enough for us, a lot of TV series are available on streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu meaning that we don’t have to wait another week for the next episode.

Let’s jump into some of the best TV series of all time, and the best part, the majority of these are available for continuous viewing on streaming platforms.  

How I Met Your Mother 

Ted Mosby reflects on his past life in this 9-season TV series, as he explains to his children in 2030 how his life went before having them. Hence the title, the show focuses on Mosby’s life, including the ups and downs and relationships with friends Lily, Marshall, Barney, and Robin.

Although the show did receive some criticism for the ending, we won’t provide you with any spoilers, and we will leave it to you to find out how Ted ended up meeting his wife.  

Prison Break 

After Lincoln is framed for murder and falsely accused, he lands himself in prison, and for life, as he is sentenced to death row. With no chance of being released, the only hope he has is his brother Michael, a prison designer who manages to work his way into the prison by being arrested himself.

By holding the knowledge and blueprints of the prison layout, Michael comes up with a plan, which other inmates become involved in, to help himself, and his innocent brother escapes the enclosed walls.  

Brooklyn Nine-Nine 

In the UK, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an E4 favorite. The channel is constantly playing episodes of the show throughout the day and we are not surprised why.

This American sitcom is a favorite amongst viewers as it displays the livelihoods of a team of detectives working with the 99th precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn.

With a range of dynamic and, at times, clashing characters, viewers are left chuckling at their screens, and at times, feeling sorry for Captain Holt as he must deal with his team.  

Suits 

Focusing within a New York City law firm, Mike Ross lands himself a position working alongside reputable and successful Harvey Specter, and although he lacks knowledge in the law business, he is hired on the spot.

With great storylines, a secret to keep, and great actors and actresses, this show is not one to miss. Also, if you want to witness Megan Markle before her Royal debut, then be sure to tune in to witness her former life and skills as an actress.  

The Simpsons 

Winning many awards throughout the years, with over 30 seasons of laughter, these animated yellow characters have provided some top-class entertainment which has led to the show being one the best TV series of all time.

Following the lives of Homer and Marge Simpson, their family, and their lives with friends in Springfield, each episode follows a different storyline revolving around the iconic characters.

Be sure to note that the reoccurring theme within each episode is Homer’s insane personality and his frequent use of the word “DOH!”. 

Friends 

As one of the most monumental TV series we have seen yet, Friends has got to be one of the most popular and best TV series of all time.

Based in Manhattan, New York, the show focuses on the lives of six young adults as they go through the motions of life with one another experiencing relationships, conflicts, new jobs, drama, and frequent meetups at the local coffee shop, Central Perk. Starring the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, and Courteney Cox, the content within the series is comical. 

Gossip Girl 

Narrated by the unknown “Gossip Girl”, a popular blog that exposes teens and young adults’ secrets within the Upper East Side of Manhattan, this American drama TV series focuses on the lives of a group of young adults as it follows their exquisite and lavish lifestyles.

Featuring the iconic duo, best friends, Blair and Serena, Blair’s boyfriend, lacrosse player Nate Archibald, and arrogant yet attractive Chuck Bass, the drama is constantly unfolding amongst this group of friends.

However, throw Dan Humphries, a lonely, unknown student from Brooklyn into the mix and we have even more! Stay tuned until the end of season 6 when the real gossip girl is revealed.

Breaking Bad 

As one of the biggest hits Netflix has ever made, it is no surprise that Breaking Bad falls under the category of best TV series of all time.

Focusing on a student-teacher bond between Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who is struggling with a cancer diagnosis, and his student, Jesse Pinkman, the pair enters the world of drug distribution to ensure that White’s family is financially stable for when his cancer takes a turn for the worst.

The business built by the two is deemed as charismatic and one shows you do not want to miss out on it.
