Aishwarya Rai Bachchan:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is an Indian actress who won the Miss World pageant in 1994. She has established herself as one of India’s most popular and influential celebrities thanks to her successful acting career. Rai has received numerous honors, including two Filmfare Awards, as well as the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2009 and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the Government of France in 2012. 

Rai worked as a model while in college. After appearing in several television commercials, she competed in the Miss India pageant, finishing second. Rai made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar in 1997, a semi-biographical political drama starring Mohanlal, Prakash Raj, Tabu, and Revathi. The film was a big success, winning the Film award. 

Rai’s role in the romantic drama Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999 marked a watershed moment in her career. Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed the film, which was based on Maitreyi Devi’s Bengali novel Na Hanyate and starred Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. She portrayed Nandini, a Gujarati woman who is forced into marriage (with Devgan’s character) despite being in love with another man (played by Khan). Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, Josh was a commercial success. Following her appearance in David Dhawan’s slapstick comedy Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, Rai co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s love-saga Devdas, an adaptation of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel of the same name. She portrayed Paro (Parvati), the protagonist’s love interest (played by Khan). The film premiered at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and was named one of Time’s “ten best films of the millennium.” In India, the film received ten Filmfare Awards, including Rai’s second Best Actress award.

Rai then co-starred in the 2005 adult drama Shabd, alongside Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan, about an author who convinces his wife to pursue an illicit relationship with a younger man to research his next book.
