Burnett is too strong to un-do to get some extra pop to the batting order. There’s a decent chance Molina will not finish the game, once Burnett finishes his work.Player News ArchiveYear-By-Year SalaryContract YearSalaryContract YearSalary200102002200,0002003320,0002004335,0002005725,0002006850,00020071,350,00020081,875,00020092,125,000Salary data may not be available for every year.

Physical chemist. Born on March 19, 1943, in Mexico City, Mexico. Interested in science at an early age, he created his own chemistry lab in a bathroom at his home. After completing his studies in Mexico and Germany, he moved to the United States in 1968 to obtain an advanced degree in physical chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. While at Berkeley, he met Luisa Tan who later became his wife. He graduated in 1972 and went to the University of California, Irvine in 1973 to continue his research. Molina later went work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the 1980s. In 1989, he joined the faculty at Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT. He left MIT and returned to California in 2004 to teach at the University of California, San Diego. Molina is best known for his study on the effect on Earth’s upper atmosphere of man-made compounds. He noted that some compounds, such as chlorofluorocarbons, were having an adverse effect on the ozone layer. Molina shared the 1995 Nobel Prize for Chemistry in recognition of this work.© 2006 A&E Television Networks. All rights reserved.

Duke Sims has a business idea for himself and Jose Molina, a catcher-catcher sort of thing where the two men who hit the final home runs at the original Yankee Stadium and the remodeled version, respectively, team up for autograph signings and baseball seminars. “Maybe we can pair up like Branca and Thomson and make some money,” Sims said from his Las Vegas home moments after Molina hit a two-run homer off Chris Waters in the fourth inning Sunday night, the last dinger in Stadium history. Sims was referring to Ralph Branca and Bobby Thomson – Thomson homered off Branca to win the 1951 NL pennant for the Giants and the two have been signing autographs together since. PHOTO GALLERY: MOMENTS TO REMEMBER Molina didn’t know who Sims was, but was happy to join him in the land of trivia. “This is beautiful,” Molina said. “I know a lot of people probably thought I wouldn’t be the one. They probably thought about Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi, Alex Rodriguez, probably the whole team before me. But this is very special and this game is full of surprises.” PHOTO GALLERY: THE LAST GAME It was only the third home run of the season for Molina and his 19th in 500 big-league games. Sims’ Stadium shot was his only homer in a brief stint as a Yankee, though he hit 100 in his 11-year career. Molina joked that he tried to call the game “so I’d be the last one to homer. But you really can’t control that. It’s destiny, I guess.” VOTE FOR THE GREATEST STADIUM MOMENT Molina did not get the ball – the fan who had it refused an offer from Yankee security for a signed bat in exchange – but Molina didn’t seem to mind. “Well, enjoy it,” he said. Sims slugged his famous homer on Sept. 30, 1973, the day before demolition on the original park started. The Stadium underwent a two-year renovation and the Yanks played at Shea in 1974-75. “It has become something that fans who are real New York fans know about,” said Sims, who only played because Thurman Munson took the day off. “Because of that one swing, I used to get to come to Old-Timers’ Day frequently.” Molina will be able to say the same one day.
